Vehicle AC Not Cooling in Hot Weather
One of the first signs that your vehicle’s air conditioning is going out is a noticeable change on how it cools. When the air conditioning doesn’t seem to be cooling as well as it used to, there is a problem in the cooling system. When you feel cool air, but the air flow is much weaker than normal, then this is a sign the fan system or compressor is going out. If there is a strong force of air coming from the vents, but it feels warmer than normal, then there is a problem with the cooling system and not the fan. If you notice a change in the air conditioning cooling performance, have the air conditioning system checked by a mechanical service.
Car Air Conditioner Making Squealing Noise
When you turn on the vehicle’s air conditioning and it makes odd noises, this is never a good sign. When the air conditioning system make noise, in most cases it is the compressor failing. The compressor helps to extract the hot air from your vehicle. The compressor compresses the hot air into a gas which is then pumped through the evaporator coil to create the cool air. The compressor works hard each time the air conditioning is turned on. Over time the compressor will wear down and eventually fail. It is common in the life of a vehicle that it will need a compressor replacement once or twice. When the compressor begins to fail, it will usually make an odd noise which is a clue you will need to have the compressor replaced.
Car Air Conditioner Leak
The vehicle’s cooling system is comprised of many component such as the A/C evaporator coils, compressor, condenser, and hoses or lines. If there is any compressor oil or refrigerant leaking from any of these components, there is a problem. If the compressor oil is leaking, the compressor will begin to overheat and break down within a short period of time. If the leak is allowing the refrigerant to escape, this is a bigger problem. Without the refrigerant, the air conditioner cannot produce cool air which also helps to keep the engine cool. If the refrigerant is leaking, get the vehicle checked by a mechanic soon. If you are seeing oil or refrigerant leaks it is important to have your vehicle looked at to prevent additional problems and to ensure your air conditioner works through the summer.
